# Create the account

> Signing up, verifying your email and the welcome steps.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Sign up">
    On **Create new account** ("30 days free") fill in **Email** and **Password** (at least 8 characters), or use **Continue with Google**. Choose the country under **Where is your business based?** — what it sets is explained below. You can choose Romania, Italy or Spain. Click **Create account**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Verify your email">
    On **Verify your email**, enter the 6-digit code you received by email.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Welcome to Gridbeds!">
    Fill in **Phone number** and choose the **Account type**: **Individual** (renting in your own name) or **Business** (a company or sole trader).
  </Step>

  <Step title="What do you run?">
    Choose everything that applies: **Apartments & houses**, **Guesthouse / B\&B**, **Hotel or motel**, **Restaurant or bar**. Gridbeds switches on the modules that fit and switches off the rest — switched off, not removed — and the first property step offers the types of what you chose. See [Property types](/en/getting-started/property-types#what-you-run). If you signed up in the staff app, your answer from there is already ticked.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Company details (companies only)">
    Fill in the **Tax ID** (for a Romanian company, the CUI without the RO prefix), the company name, the trade register number and the registered address. You can change them at any time in **Settings**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Your first property">
    Add the first property — see [First property](/en/getting-started/first-property). You can also leave it for later with **Skip**. If you run only a restaurant or bar, there is no first property to add and the welcome steps end before this one.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  If you were invited by an organization that already uses Gridbeds, your account joins that organization directly: you are not asked for a country or taken through the welcome steps.
</Note>

## What the sign-up country sets

The country you choose under **Where is your business based?** is where your business is based. It sets the organization's default currency, language and time zone, and it is proposed as the country of your first property. Everything else follows something more specific:

* **VAT, the currency you sell in and guest reporting** follow each property's country. One organization can have properties in several countries.
* **Electronic invoicing** (e-Factura in Romania, SDI in Italy) follows the legal entity that issues the invoice: the property's own entity, or the organization's default entity when the property has none. See [Invoicing](/en/invoicing#electronic-invoicing-by-country).
* **A property in another country needs its own legal entity** (**Settings → Legal entities**) before it can invoice. Without one, its invoices are refused rather than sent to another country's authority.

What each country's law then asks of you is under **Compliance by country**: [Romania](/en/compliance/romania), [Italy](/en/compliance/italy).

## The trial

A new account starts with 30 free days on the trial plan, with one property. See [Plans and prices](/en/plans).

## Your team

Invite colleagues from **Settings → Organization**, tab **Team**: **Invite Member**, the email address, the role, then **Send Invitation**. An invitation expires after 7 days. For each member you can set **Property access**: **All properties** or **Specific properties**. A member with **Specific properties** sees the guest conversations of those properties only (a conversation that belongs to no property, such as the website contact form, is for owners and admins), and is told as it happens about the messages and restaurant orders of those properties only. Likewise a restaurant, with its menus, tables, orders and reservations, opens only for the members whose access covers its property; a restaurant that belongs to no property is for members with **All properties**. The same goes for reviews: such a member sees the reviews, the rating figures and the **Quality** dashboard of those properties only, and can edit, feature or reply to the reviews of those properties only.

The built-in roles are **Owner**, **Admin**, **Accountant**, **Member**, **Reception**, **Housekeeping manager**, **Housekeeper**, **Maintenance** and **Driver**. The owner can do everything; an admin, everything except the subscription. What each role may do is shown and changed in **Settings → Roles & Permissions**, where you can also create up to 10 roles of your own (**Add Role**).
