Housekeeping is a dashboard tab: Dashboard → Housekeeping (“Room status and housekeeping management”). You need permission to view housekeeping. It is where a housekeeper lands after signing in, since they have no Today tab: see Front desk. On Today, the Rooms ready reading and the Housekeeping queue card are for members with this permission, and are left out when the property tracks no individual rooms. The tab has three parts: Board, Today’s plan and Setup (with permission to manage housekeeping). The plan and setup work on one property: the one in the switcher or, while the switcher names several, the one you pick above them. Picking one there leaves the switcher as it is. The board updates live: when a room’s status changes or a cleaning job is assigned or done, on any device, it shows without reloading.

Room statuses

At check-out — including a guest’s self check-out — the assigned room becomes Dirty. Separately, a room can be Available, Maintenance, Blocked or Retired; rooms in maintenance or retired get no cleaning jobs.

The board

Four cards with the number of rooms in each status, the Arrivals needing cleaning strip and the Housekeeping Board. Each room card has one button for its next step: Start cleaning (Dirty), Mark clean (Cleaning) and Inspect (Clean, with permission to manage housekeeping). One press moves the room. The ⋮ menu still has every other status: back to Dirty, Override (skips the flow) after a confirmation, and Assign housekeeper. The card also says what the front desk knows about the room on the property’s operating day: Occupied or Vacant, Departure today (the guest leaves today, or should have left) and Arrival today — in orange while the room is not ready yet. In the Arrivals needing cleaning strip, press a room to show only that room on the board, or Show these rooms to show all of them; Show all rooms brings the board back. With permission to manage housekeeping, tick rooms — or a whole column with the box next to its name — and choose Set status to give all of them one status. On a phone the board shows one status at a time: pick it from the bar above the rooms. The bar with the selected rooms stays at the bottom of the screen.
A housekeeper who may only view housekeeping can move only the rooms assigned to them, between Dirty, Cleaning and Clean. Inspection is for a housekeeping manager.
A room someone is waiting for in the Arrival queue shows Guest waiting: finish it first. Releasing it (to clean or inspected, as the property chooses) checks the waiting guest in or tells them.

Today’s plan

Gridbeds generates cleaning jobs every 15 minutes, and immediately after a check-out, an extension, a room move or a cancellation: Deep cleans and turndowns are never generated automatically. Each job carries an “arrival by {time}” deadline — the booking’s check-in time, the property’s, or 14:00. On the plan screen, every housekeeper has a column with “{load} / {capacity} min”, and Unassigned collects the rest, most urgent first. Drag and drop jobs between housekeepers, or group by section or floor and click Assign all. The housekeeper gets a notification that rooms were assigned to them. Setting a room to Cleaning starts its job; Clean or Inspected finishes it.

Setup

  • Sections and rooms, with a Default attendant per section.
  • Credits — 1 credit = 1 minute.
  • Attendants — the maximum per shift and In today; the default capacity is 360 minutes.
Apartments, villas and the other single-unit properties appear on the board and in the plan too, like a room: each such property has its one unit, named after the property.

How often an occupied room is serviced

Each property says it on its form, step Policies, section Housekeeping:
  • Occupied rooms are serviced — Every day (a full service every N nights and a light one on the other nights), Every few nights (only the full service, every N nights) or Only when the guest leaves (nothing during the stay);
  • Full service every … nights — N, counted from the guest’s first night; 0 never gives a full service.
The departure clean always happens. A new property starts with its kind’s answer — every day for a hotel, every few nights for a guesthouse, only when the guest leaves for an apartment — and properties that existed before keep being serviced every day until you change it. See Property types.
